I completely agree, but you'll agree won't you that live rock that is advertised as uncured is likely to produce more die off and therefor ammonia than rock that has been properly shipped and previously cured?

LOL, not at all! I bought what was supposedly DFS "premium" LR, that was supposed to be cured & filled with all sorts of color & life. You wouldn't believe the die-off! Took 3 weeks to cure in a vat & months to see anything live on there.
lol, well OK. Sometimes it isn't the case, but sometimes it is. For me, I used an extra ammonia source.
Yeh Im using the prawn as an extra ammonia source to take it up to 3-4ppm.. but anyway its only reached 0.75 so far and is on its way down.. still testing at 0.5 for ammonia tonight, same as last night.. but as Niko said, the prawn may need more time to produce ammonia.
The prawn is looking pretty gross right now, seeping out of the stocking, with trails going half way accross the tank lol.. eww.
The rock was cured, but with the shipping prob has caused some die off but I wanted more ammonia than just a bit of die off.
I didn't freshwater dip the rock nope.. didnt wanna hurt anything that might be good on it. Should I have dipped it?
I haven't seen anything like bristle worms, crabs etc yet and ive spent ages looking!
Whats do you think this is... a sponge? Im sure it was half the size of that when I first put the rock in. At first I thought it was sand being blown on to the ledge, but its a different texture completly, more smooth and not grainy.
