Sand Substrate for my 75 gal???

Slipping a sponge over the intake will drastically decrease the amount of stuff going into the filter, and probably lower the intake suction thus decreasing the likely hood of half the tanks sand getting sucked up. (exaggeration)

I do have a question about this tho for Mgamer20o0, will a sponge for a sponge filter plug into a intake on a power or canister filter, or is the only way to make one DIY?

:) Thanks

so like, do they sell sponges in lfs? or do u use like a common house-hold sponge? i'm so confused!

how much will it reduce the suction of the filter? and do i need to put a sponge on the powerhead?

For my invert tank I took an Aquaclear 30 sponge, cut a hole in the middle of it, then slipped if over the filter intake. $2 for an easy fix.
