School me on feeding fish..

Forgot, I also feed peas (shelled) and fresh zucchini 1 or 2 times a week.

I personally believe you feed the fish based on their needs.

IE: young fish will be fed more often, small amounts.
Breeding pairs will get a more specific diet(high protein)
some fish have small digestive systems for their bodies..discus and Angels.. these tend to live in warmer water and will usually have a higher metabolism. = feed small amounts more often. (daily and in the case of Discus 2-3 X daily for adults.)
these fish are also foragers.

I usually feed my fish 2Xdaily small amounts.

Just a pinch of flakes once a day. Maybe once a week some frozen brine shrimp (mine go crazy for this). Some algae flakes for the pleco until there's enough debris to be of adequate nutrients.

vanillarum - haven't gotten the filter yet. crossing my fingers for today or saturday.

So the basic premise is to mix up the fish's diet much like we do a human's?

How does one feed frozen foods? partially thaw them and then drop them in?

What about veggies? how does one feed them to the fish?

I know of at least one LFS that carries frozen fish foods, as well as a Petsmart right by my house that sells frozen food. Do I just keep their food in my freezer?

x3ro, yes, try to vary the diet. Frozen foods you keep in the freezer and take out a cube or cubes as you need them. I drop mine in a disposable cup with some water (I use tap, but many use tank), let it melt (takes only a couple of minutes) and then I slowly pour it into the tank. With veggies, I cut a slab of zucchini about 2-3" long, slice it in half lengthwise, stick a fork in it to keep it from floating, then put it on the bottom of the tank. The fish will find it. Don't leave it more than 24 hours or it will make a big mess in your tank. I take frozen petite peas, put 20 or 30 in a glass coffee mug, add an inch or 2 of water, then microwave for a minute. Drain it, then shell the peas by squeezing them to get the soft, middle part. Then just drop some in the tank. My male betta loves his peas, as do some of the plecos and the farlos and the sewellia lineolata (loaches). Good luck.
