Some of us will be going back this year and we can talk about it here...

Today I started the 8th grade, and my class is the oldest in the school My teachers are cranky old lady's but at least my classmates aren't too bad...I go to a private school and we have uniforms and we don't even choose our "electives"

Take advantage of the "cranky old ladies" knowledge, I know it may not be easy to look at it like this now but you will appreciate their wisdom in the future. Good luck this year, I am sure you will do fine.

My school district doesnt start until the 22nd. It was kind of weird driving to work today. I drove in front of the other school district full of cars and buses. I felt like someone was going to stop me and ask why I wasnt in class.

The teachers may be old and cranky, but they probably know what they are talking about. Knowing 1 person in each class really helps out. Kind of like I know one person at work that I can call and ask questions too, you should know one person who pays attention that you can ask questions too if you space out. I dont know why, but in most of my classes last year I would space out. I would be following what was going on, but not thinking about it at all. It really helped to have friends who didnt do that.

I dont really get private school. Are the rules really strict at yours? At my school the only class that has a uniform is gym. At work I have to wear a nice shirt and pants. I felt stupid at first, but now it is normal to me. Every one wears the same thing, so that kind of helps. Although I was the only one tucking in my shirt (that stops today). You loose your freedom of expression through clothing with a uniform, but nobody can make stupid comments about your clothes if they are wearing the exact same thing.

We have a uniform all the way from the top of our head (hair) to our toes...(shoes have to be black or white with one accent mark, and socks need to be white)

Is it just me, or does the school year start earlier and earlier every year? My daughter starts 7th grade on Wednesday. And the first football game is this Friday. Football in August??

I think so.

Kind of weird, my school district (lets say #1) ended before school district #2 (the one I drove in front of today). But my district (#1) starts next wed while district #2 started today.

up here, in the public school system, kids don't go back until september 4th, after labour day. in previous years, they've started before the holiday, and had a long weekend, but never has school started earlier than a few days before the end of august.
