schooling corys

If they have similar colors and patterns they should school.

I thought they would too, I had 4 types in one tank and they would all keep to their own kind. I was a bit surprised considering some were very close in color. Crazy racist corydoras! :joke:

I originally got 1 bronze, 1 albino (a brinze really) and 1 peppered or spotted cory. They all hung out together in my 10 gallon, though very loosley. The albino had some babies and now I have a total of 6 bronze cories, 1 albino and the spotted one in a 29 gallon tank. They are still fairly loose with the schooling but when scared they will zoom and huddle together, they eat together and often they sleep grouped together.

I also have a flying fox that spends a lot of time hanging out with the cories as well.

So I find the schooling aspect fairly loose indepedant of the species.

Yea, I agree with the last post, most of the time all of my cories sleep in a pile under a piece of driftwood, but when they look for food, they usually go their separate ways.

It is best for the cories if you get the same type instead of a few of each. They school better, are more comfortable, will act more natural, etc.

i had 9 in a 55, 3 or 4 different types. all schooled together all of the time. all peppereds and one albino might exclude the albino because it looks so different from them.
