Schultz Aquatic soil

I was just wondering if you could mix pool filter sand and schultz aquatic soil since the aquatic soil is suppose to be kind of light or would it be better to just use the soil by itself? I guess what I am asking is if I do mix it will it be as effective? I dont want to layer it because I have cichlid and they will eventually mix it up anyways....

I like the Schultz in my 24G but It won't mix with sand.It's far too light.Charles

So what could I use to weigh it down.....

It will get heavier as it ages. I have it in a 29 and after a year or so I have no problems with it.

So I should just use it straight, but a whole year thats a long time I also have african cichlids which dig....I guess I could try it by itself

They are going to spray it around for a good long time. maybe use something else?

Well I already got it..but if I do decide to mix it with sand will it still be as effective?

I would go at least 50/50 else wise the planting medium will just be wasted.

I have 50lbs of sand in there now and I bought 30lbs of the SAS So I guess I need to take some sand out...It should be at least 3in deep right?
