i have read alot on this skimmer and know what everyone will say so dont knock me for buying it.does anyone know a good mod to kaje this think work?and why are there so many bubbles in my tank?is coralife any good?thanks for any advise you can give me

You could try making a skimmer box for the pump to set in, as far as the micro bubbles in your tank that is one of the problems with most HOB skimmers. The CSS are decent depending on the size of the tank, so what size tank do you have??

making a skimmer box?is that like a sump?its in a 38gallon

i have one, try opening up the air valve a bit to reduce the bubbles. they take some time and constant fidgeting to get them to work. there is a link somewhere in here about modifying them. to start, get yourself a better air valve. the rest involves cutting down the inner tube. try googling "seaclone mods", i believe it was by a guy named chan ( or something like that )

do you still have it? you have any pics of it in operation?first sw set up and wondering if i need many bubble's in collection chamber or just few as possiable.

yeah, i still have it, it's o.k. at best. i try to get a good cyclone, with lots of tiny bubbles in the chamber. i also make sure that very few micro bubbles enter the tank. that's usually the setting i aim for. but again, it takes constant, almost daily adjusting. mine also seemed to take a few weeks to really work at all. i haven't had a chance to look up that modification site yet, but i will. are you a bit handy? 'cause one process is to remove the inner tube and cut 2 or 3 inches off it. but to start, try to find a better air valve. that's the main problem.

^^^Yeah, there's a mod somewhere where you can take a mini bioball, cut it in half, and use that to make a pinwheels-style impeller for the seaclone that seems to work well.

some people also use an airstone down inside to increase bubble production
