Ok, you're right, it only affects the Gh. Since you don't know what your Gh is, no one can tell you if it is all right to add it. Since I don't know what problems can arise from A high gh, I can't help you any further. I can tell you this. The equilibrium has 60 times more calcium than regular flourish.
Seachem Equilibrium is basically potassium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, and calcium sulfate with a little iron and manganese thrown in. Most of these are already present in your tap water and if you change your water weekly you may not need to add any more. If you are lazy with the water changes then adding these once a week will ensure that plants won't be deprived of them.
A high gH isn't likely to cause any plant problems, but a large change in gH quickly can cause problems for fishes as the gH affects gas exchange through their gills (look up osmotic pressure). If you want to add the Equilibrium, don't add more than the recommended dosage at once.
Thankyou Phanmc, I think your on my page. I know of osmotic pressure and wanted a double check per say.
And I will get a test kit eventually. Im saying I know its prolly not spot on, I spent 2.00, I do tap water 50% every sun like its church. With prime. And so if you try and look at my painting of.. Its a kinda waste. It might raise what I dont have a lil or raise my perfect level already to a degree like it wont ADD that much if its low cause im not doing alot. and it wont make it dangerous cause im only adding such a minute amount. and then I change the water like 3 days later and do a WC. Like a pinch folks. prolly like lighting my 2.00 on fire. Thats how I look at it. I was wondering too if any one used it.
I read some search posts and one guy confirmed it used as a plant fertilizer b/c its ingredients. the OP was kinda planning on half dosing as well.
If you are going to use it, I would highly recommend getting the gh test kit first Check the gh of your tap water, and check the gh of your tank. Like phanmc said, a large change in gh quickly could cause your fish problems. It might take more like and 4th, or even an 8th or a 16th of a dose. Dosing blind could still be a problem.
Sounds like you are already intent on adding this even though you dont know what your GH is. Perhaps you should take the advice already given and at least test it. Do you have hard water fish? Soft water fish? It could be that a small amount of this could add supplements for the plants, if your not already adding them via macro and micro dosing. But I am usually against adding anything that isnt needed, especially adding it blindly. If you end up creating a tank with different chemistry from your tap then youll have to pay extra attention when you do pwc's to put the right amount of additives in it every time.
... why are you going to put chemicals in your tank if you don't know if you need them? test, test, and test. then be careful about how much you put in... under-dosing is way better than over-dosing.
Im really open, but im gettin frustrated in a calm way, wrinkled forehead way. I know I dont know what my GH is. I dont own a test kit yet. It was 2.00. Im, was/thinking it was a plant fert. Like with other ferts you buy at the lfs- not some kit or exact measured thing of all the nut's you need. But when you buy the cheapy trace stuff like tetra florapirde and its floruish I belive. But if I add those I under dose and dont have a any problems. I read on another thread that its a plant fertilizer. If it didnt enhance slightly or maintain this GH; I prolly wouldnt be asking about it. Id just use it as a fert. quit using florapride and under dose this equilibrium.
My fish are listed below and I didnt look at it as a soft hard situation b/c im under dosing?
