Setting up My 46 Bow... Round 2!

O.25 is high, you might want to do daily large WCs. I'd get that down to 0.05

I know. I'm gonna keep an eye on it and see how the fish change the levels.

Just tested the pH and it's down to 7.3 or 7.4, and I'll check it again later this evening. Lemme check the ammonia now.

Probably around .1--it's not the same yellow color as zero, but it's not nearly as green as the .25 was yesterday.

Cheers!

You have fairly aggressive lighting and not many plants in there that I can see, assuming most of those are printed on the background? I'm thinking more plants, especially stem plants, could help with your cycling and future algae issues.

I concur. And to pick up on an earlier post, where you (Jake) mention using pH Down, don't. Before attempting to adjust the pH, you must know the GH and KH (and pH obviously) of your source water, presumably tap (or could be well). The KH in particular works to maintain a stable pH, resulting in fluctuating pH using these chemicals, and this is hard on fish. I won't go further with this until we have the GH and KH numbers (you should be able to get these from your water supply people, look for their website), but in the interim, please do not use more of the pH Down.

Byron.

I plan to add more tanks within the next week or two. I just picked up these from a LFS... who was impressively knowledge-less and essentially useless..haha.

Cheers!

^definitely a marked improvement!

I'm going to check it one more time this evening before bed. All the fish are still alive!
