gorgeous fish! im hoping to have some pics of my moor and fantail up soon, if i can figure out how to hook my camera up to the dang computer......:nilly:

nice tank. I have 2 fantails. gold fish seem to have good personalities enjoyable to watch and very pretty fish.

Got a couple blurry shots of my not-quite-black moor. :)

I've had it since december, but it's only grown maybe 0.5" (body length is 1.5", and another 1.5" for the tail) and has permanent floaty issues (been using sinking foods all along), plus a minor gill oddity - some kind of little flap that sticks out. Been that way since I got it.

If a presumably male goldie starts occasionally bonking his head on it's backside, is it sorta safe to assume its a girl? I get sick of calling it "it" all the time. lol

My Nikon and Olympus have USB cords. I think your camera should have it. Connect both the camera and the CPU with the cord and then switch on camera. When I use Olympus, it gave me a screening to select where to switch it on and I click "PC".

Nice black moor, Paperdragon!

It's not always accurate if a male attempts to bump her somehow but if you find the black moor noticeably rounder with the male growing white tubercles on its gill covers, then certainly you are seeing signs of spawning rituals.

If your fish is getting floaty issues, chances are your sinking foods may be high in starch content. What brands do you use? I use Hikari and look at each food products for the ingredients. If the top set of ingredients contains a lot of starch-based ingredients, then I simply avoid that food and switch to another. Floating foods also make up most of the issues and one of my ryukin gets floaty as a result of it. The last culprit would simply be genetics. You could switch to Mazuri gel foods if you like or do homemade gel foods. There's a list of recipes for that.

Kristina, I am jealous you have the crown pearlscales while I am stuck to a choice of tikus only.:silly:

Thanks Lupin. :)
I'm fairly certain it's genetics (got it from a petsmart that I later discovered tends to have a lot of trouble with goldies). I've tried a variety of foods. Doesn't seem to matter whether its hikari or gel or fresh veggies.

Just an update for my little pair of "sharky twins", which they bear almost no resemblance to anymore. Here's a short montage with dates to show how long it took. They've colored in nicely, but still don't look like the orandas that Petsmart thought they were selling.

Also, as a bonus, do enjoy this attempt at a short video showing what happens if you drop food in one spot in my tank. Note the rammy ryunkins.

wow those are the same goldies? i think they have an identity issue and cant decide what they want to look like....

anyways all there coloring ideas are quite attractive.

Hmm...Does anybody else have albino telescopes and shortbodied orandas? I'm interested to hear anybody's experiences on these intriguing fish. I have a chance to get shortbodied orandas but I am very wary about their health conditions.
