I moved my shrimp to another tank (cycled already), and some of them have been swimming frantically for a few hours. There's one RCS in particular that keep trying to get out of the water by going against the water flow of the HOB filter. Is there something wrong? I did a very large water change before putting the shrimp in the new tank.

they could just be getting used to the new surroundings. keep an eye on them for a few days and hopefully they'll settle down.

about a year ago i had RCS, and they did not move much, lost them. recently i restocked the tank with more RCS, the new group of RCS seem to swim alot more then the my first colony, i would not say mine are frantic. i would like to know if it is normal for them to swim frequently ?

Doesn't sound right to me. Sounds like they are stressed.
Was the PH close in the new tank?

Steverd:
The PH should be the same, as I use the same treated tap water.

The Zigman:
I read about that, but I can't seem to distinguish between male and female CRS's. I can tell them apart with the cherry shrimp, but it seemed like I have all (5) male CRS or the difference between the gender is not as pronounced in the CRS. I'm just not sure.

I hope they're just getting used to the new environment and the absence of juvenile fish. I had them with baby zebra danios previously.

Here's the bugger trying to get our of the water.

Ammonia and nitrite are at 0. Nitrate should be very minimal as the water is pretty much new.. PH is around 7.5 with the tap water I use. Water temp is always 75 in all of my tanks.

I lowered the water level, and all of the RCS and CRS are more calm now. One reason that I can think of for this behavior is that they're completely by themselves now compared to in the last tank where they were with juvenile zebra danios, and there is no tall leaf plants anymore, just moss. Maybe they are not scared anymore and roaming around like drunkards?

I've never seen this before either. I would lower the PH.
I keep my CRS in 6.0 to 6.5 PH and 72'F
As for nitrate, I would check, but mine usually runs around 20

Yea, looks like a male CRS to me.
