Sick panda corys please help!

i'm in the burbs, west of the city, but i used to live in Upper Darby - i get the same city water as you probably though, but mine comes out of the faucet at 7.2 - 7.6 PH....is your PH 8.4 in your TANK or fro the faucet? You can use bags of peat moss, driftwood or almond leaves to soften water and lower PH, and you can used crushed coral and sea shells to raise it a little at a time, but like i said it gets to be a PITA.

Cool! It gets to 8.4 after it's gassed off overnight (and is 8.4 in the tank as well of course). But my nitrates are literally 40-80ppm from the faucet which just seems crazy to me (0ppm from my RO water so I know it's not my test kit). Then again I'm a newbie so who knows! In any case, it's definitely a PITA hahaha.

It's easier for you if you plan your tank/fish around the type of water you have instead of using buffers and all that other nonsense - it just gets too annoyingly pain-staking and tedious. It usually doesn't end well for people who want to keep soft-water/blackwater species around here unless you spend a fortune.

Definitely don't want to spend a fortune but it looks like I'm heading there anyway :( I thought I was sticking to hardy-ish fish with my stocking but it seems like everything dies with my luck regardless!

You should try Captain Nemo's/Natural Pet on DeKalb St. in Norristown/West Norriton or Fins, Feathers, Paws, and Claws on Rt 63 in Harleysville. Both store owners are friends of mine and are very knowledgeable and experienced...i even worked at Nemo's for awhile.

And therein lies my problem. I don't have a car (and very, very rarely have access to one) so my LFS access is limited to wherever a ZipCar can get me for a reasonable price  This is why I tried LiveAquaria in the first place. BLAH so frustrating overall. If I ever do get car access though I'll check them out!

r u IN the city?

Overnight work thing unfortunately. Luckily I get today off!

In other news, at least one of my three unfortunate pandas seems to be doing ok and is foraging around somewhat normally!! Wish the same could be said about the one little guy who's just sitting there uselessly :(

well, I thought I just picked up 2 of these at my LFS tonight, but after looking at yours again, mine aren't Pandas.....I wonder what kind they are. They are definitely not any of the 3 species I already have, but i'm sure I got a good deal - $2.99 each plus 10% off

I too have a sick bandit cory.
45 gallon tank
set up for approximately two months and has not being cycled before fish were added
half water change every week since then
I have
5 neon tetra
3 molly
3 bandit cory
a clown pleco
and 5 zebra danio

I had another cory die the same way before. It became pale and unable to move. I tried to change water but it just got sicker, I added more stress zyme and prime. But there is o difference. Is there something I can do to make my cory better?
