This is pretty awesome. I wish i would have thought about this when i did my DIY background with cement. Making caves like this is a great idea.

YAY!! alright, it's in the tank and set up! I'm pretty happy with the turnout. There are a few gaps between the rocks, but you have to look closely to notice. Can't wait until the heater comes in! Hopefully the water turns out ok after the tests. :thm:

There's a gap behind it for hardware, but it can be closed up depending on what fits. So far, there's just a little 100 gph powerhead bringing water from the display side to the back side.

ty, it turned out to not be as hard as it seems. Now it's time to do the cave idea that Emily was talking about =D

oh, and for this, we ended up going with gravel instead of sand for the substrate because it just seemed easier at the time

I'm actually looking at giving it a shot this weekend. I figure a 7 inch length of PVC about 1.5 inches in diameter with a cap on one end should suffice for my BN. We'll see if something comes up that'll prevent it.

WOW that is cool! That's an interesting sized 30g. Oceanic did build outside the box for sure. Gotta be impossible to find tops/lights to fit it though.

Pretty sure it wouldn't be a problem for Glabe's Super Awesome Custom Creations. Is a HOB filter possible with that background?
