So I need a silicon, doesn't matter what color really, just cheap and non-toxic and something that I can locate in Canada.

You want 100% silicone (Silicon is what they make computer chips from) without any mildew inhibitors..

I usually use DAP or GE in a caulking tube.

DAP is cheap at Home Depot (not sure if there is one near you)

Some brands will actually aquarium-safe on the tube.
(or they do here.)

i know this is an old thread but... does it matter which GE or DAP i get, as long as it if free of mold inhibitors and says 100% silicone it should be safe right?

That kind works pretty good but i have had best luck with GE #1. Looks like this but says #1 instead of 2. #2 has mildew inhibitors but #1 doesnt.
