Silly LFS patrons...

I am related to these kind of people to which they think they are, professionals just because they have a big tank, my cousin used to have, a 55gal, with beleive it or not
1 plecostomus
1 green terror cichlid
1 comet goldfish
1 betta (male)
2 angel fish
and a handful of tetras

alas they are now in there fishy graves, he decided that he didn't want to feed them anymore, nor would he give them up, and so we know what fate they had

Funny story about an idiot employee at an LFS...

I went in to buy some ghost shrimp for feeders and told the girl working there (who we will label "dogzilla" due to her ugly face and crappy attitude) to get me 6 of them.

We're BS'ing about how I use them for feeders etc. She proceeded to mash the suckers against the glass, ornaments and gravel trying to catch them. I told her "You know, if you put the net behind them and poke at them, they shoot backwards right into the net". And she gives me the "look" (you know the "look"... it says "shut up a$$#01@ I'm working here").

I knew half of them were dead, and she also dropped one on the counter transferring them from the plastic bin to the back and just swept it from the counter into the bag with her hand, crushing off half the legs.

So I say to dogzilla "Hey these shrimp are toast... how about getting me another bag and letting me net them?"

She responds with "Well you're just using them for feeders right? They should be fine for that."

So I waltz up to the counter with my shrimp frappe and say to the owner (running the register, and I don't blame him, I wouldn't let dogzilla anywhere near something as electronic and sensitive as a cash register), "Hey I came here for some live food for my fish and I got tenderized shrimp chunks instead."

He takes a look and grumbles a little... brings the bag back to the tank room and dumps it in the closest overstocked puffer tank which suddenly shows lots of activity... Then he pulls dogzilla over to the shrimp tank and proceeds to show her how to net shrimp by holding the net behind them and poking at them so they shoot back into the net...

I get another "look" (this one says something nastier than the first which I will leave to your imagination) and I retaliate with a scorchingly well placed "I told you so."

I was hoping she'd take a swing, but I guess unprofessional behavior is only acceptable when the boss is out of earshot.

I know the shrimp were cheap, but they gave me a chance to get back at my nemesis so I valued those six shrimp more than any feeders I ever bought!

:hi: -"Hey it's me again. Can I get six more of those shrimp?" :rant2:

Graphic....you write very well....lol.....have you ever thought of trying to get your own column in a newspaper....like that "Dave WhatsHisName" fella ?......or, writing your own book....say "The Trials and Tribulations of Aquarium Keeping" with a subtitle of your choosing....?

I think you could do very well with something like that ! :D

I think my favorite incident ever was when I was new, and I walked into the pet store in order to buy some decent starting fish for my 29 gallon tank. I asked what a good starter fish would be, and I was told danios would be good. Sounds good to me. I was going to buy a couple of zebras and a gold danio, but the person told me that danios liked to be together. Fair enough, I hadn't really thought about that. I ask how many I should put in a 29 gallon tank for starters, and the girl tells me 1-2...dozen. Yes, that's right. 12-24 zebra danios to START OFF a new aquarium. I questioned her logic, asking if 12-24 fish wouldn't be a bit much. She tells me, "You need to get the nitrogen cycle started. You might lose about half of the danios, but the cycle will be started." Yes, I suppose decaying fish matter would get the cycle started.

With 12-24 zebra danios, I'd get dizzy watching the tank.

 I think 24 zebra danios in a tank would be great. Find an ornament that looks like a bees nest or Winnie the Pooh with a honey jar and it would fit perfectly.

Emg (Thanks!) I write all my own copy for everything I design unless the clients supply it. I like to consider myself kind of like an advertising swiss army knife... anyone need a logo? :D Portrait of your fish?

the petsmart where i bought my danios from had about 50 in a 10G. It was something else. We didnt have problems netting the 4 i needed, truth be told :)

I hate danios......
