Who here has silver dollars as the main show fish in their aquariums. I jave a 55g with 5 silver dollars and sevral tetras. Silver dollars are aweome fish.

I was considering getting some a while back, What are they like aggressive wise as I have heard they can be quite pushy towards smaller and larger fish?

I always though they looked a little like Discus?

I have got a couple that came with a tank a guy gave me. Nice fish not aggressive at all towards my small angels I have with them. They are dominated by a smaller turqouise rainbow male who does not seem to like them much at all.

Would there be any probs with a pair kept with a 4in parrot fish and maybe a couple of other not territorial cichlids???

they are a pain because they are so nervous you walk in teh room adn they are all lke AAAAAH!! and smash their heads into the walls trying to escape

Yes They Can Be A Bit Excitable But ½ Inch Glass Has Always Held Mine Back.

They Do Get A Long With Anything From A Dojo Loach To Angles Or Dragon Fish.

Mine Will Take A Food Stick Out Of My Hand...

what sort of adult size do they attain then? also what sort of things to they like to eat??

Sorry for all the questions, but this thread has rekindled my interest in Silver Dollars :D

Their adult size is about 5-6 inches long. They are omnivorus so they will eat almost anything. They are still slightly more picky than say a pacu, but they will eat fruit pieces, (see what they like) but they really like live food like blood worms, earthworms and things like that. They will eat many meaty foods, as well as fruit and veggies, to some degree.

I have two silver dollars and one red hook silver dollar, and they get along without any problem, with my angelfish and parrot fish as well.
