Explain?

Koi and dojo loaches are coldwater species. The rest you have are tropical species. A koi grows to at least 3 feet so think before you consider adding any more fish. Parrots alone are quite unpredictable and can harass other tankmates anytime. Lake Malawi cichlids should not be kept with koi, loaches, parrots and BGK. They are often more aggressive than most of your fish.

You can say you have no issues with aggression but maybe not now. Sooner or later, they will be.

The koi isn't going to be around for too long. I'm keeping it for someone for the time being. I doubt seriously he'll reach 6" before he's out of the tank completely. The dojo's i know are a coldwater species, but everyone locally that I've talked to told me that they don't seem to mind warmer water, and so far, I'm seeing evidence of that. They seem perfectly happy in the tank. The parrot fish is only aggressive towards the other parrot fish and towards the malawi chiclid. I've learned tonight that malawi chiclids are a lot more aggressive than I was told, and I will probably be replacing him shortly.

Another place I was reading on claimed that the "bumblebee" chiclid was highly aggressive as well, but as of yet, I've seen absolutly no evidence of that. He's as docile as an old cat. Have you any experience with those? The bumblebee and the malawi are my only real concerns right now, as far as temperment go.

Warm water contains far less dissolved oxygen that coldwater. Coldwater fish need the higher oxygen content, in warmer waters their bodies have to work harder(It shortens their lifespans)

On a side note the college I attend has a BIG 15'X15'X5' or so pond with so many big beautiful koi! There is one guy in there that is solid orange and must be at least three feet long.

Last time I had mbunas, I see them spar with each other all the time especially the bumblebee cichlid (is this Melanochromis crabo?). I'd still be concerned with the parrot fish. It may be best if you try to move out some of your considerably problematic fish.

The thing I noticed about the parrot fish is that he was as clam as could be, UNTIL the chiclids came in. That's when he started getting territorial. Mainly towards that one chiclid. Before then, even the other parrot fish didn't seem to bother him. I'm thinking that malawi just sparked some kind of bully mode in him or something. I'm not sure how to explain it. At any rate, the malawi should be replaced by the weekend.
