Snails VS Yoyo & Blue botia loach

Hi Lupin,

If i add 3 more then i would have 5 yoyo's in a 55 G is that not a bit to much related to stocking levels..??

Thanks
What else are in your tank? You have two yoyos and one modesta, right? It's not really cramped if that's all the bottom dwellers you have.

I have also have 10 cories
4 gouramies
and about 50 neon tetras
With stocks like this, both species of loaches are really a bad choice especially if they are kept in groups. Their feistiness can result in too much chaos for the tetras, cories and gouramis.

i agree...if you are trying to use the loaches for snail control, dont. dont get fish to do the work for you. i got clowns because i wanted clowns. the fact that there are no snails in their tank is incidental. there are very simple ways to erradicate snails without using fish. potato popsicle is one of my personal favorites. put a slice of potato on a stick. put it in your tank just after lights out. in the morning, pull the slice out and shake the snails off the stick into the trash. you will remove DOZENS of snails this way without mucking up the chemistry in your water and without upsetting your fish :)

Hi,

My fish all get allong ok , so i am happy about that and i don't want to chang it by adding more loaches..

And i first had loaches, then snails, they are a recent thing..
It's not that i am being overrun by snails right now, but i don't want it to get that far..

Thanks for the potato popsicle trick, sounds realy easy...

They may seem to be doing fine right now. But the loaches are not happy in groups that small. I would belive that your loaches are still juviniles. Please remeber these are for the most part top 5 in being fiesty of the botias. Your cories will most likey become toys.
