Now just how much is it that your looking to spend on a skimmer? For is it that your a limit for what you can spend? Like I said, you are with a 180 tank and within the stand height that you have will find that you have far more of a selection in skimmers then I.

this skimmer is Price:$499.95

You can as well if your no money issues buy the euroreef skimmer:

You can as well take to use the ASM skimmer G4 plus

Or you can try and go with the ATI Bubble Master skimmer as I will.

I had seen photos of this skimmer in action>

Or you could take a shot with the AquaC which was as well suggested to me.

And the MRC Protein Skimmers I not ever used myself, but do know that they are very good skimmers.

This might help you some:

So like I was saying, for your 180 your a greater number of choices to select from then I for my 240 with a lower height under the tanks stand. It all comes down to what you are willing to spend for I had my reasons to been willing to buy that $1,800+ skimmer for it would cost more still to change the tanks stand and it would had placed me in a longer drag to when I might begin enjoying these tanks, only if I no other choice would I do that.

The problem with some skimmers, your required to have the water level at a specific height for it to run as well as it should and all you need to be sure about is that your the height over the sump to get the skimmer of choice into your sump. The 60 gal tank sump that is in my 240 setup, I believe you could have something as that, but just be sure of your height space from the sump and over head of your stand (height that is).

Also, I have a number of Euroreef skimmers in my dry storage that one was only used for not even a month if that. I could see if the pump be still working, but the problem be is that you wouldn't even be able to fit this skimmer into your sump.

If this would work out for you and with others here who would vouch for you, I could then look to trust you that I send this skimmer to you that you pay for the shipping and if all is good with it, we can then discuss price.

I three euroreef in all just setting around.
Thanks for all the info and your offer to sell me one of your skimmers, but I have a AquaC EV-240 that I bought but can't fit into the sump, but I've read another forum on this type skimmer and has given me ideals on how to install it. Right now I have the skimmer on the outlet side, my ideal was to take water from the return chamber pump it to the skimmer and have the water return back to the sump, but the problem is I'm getting the water after it has been filtered so it is not as efficient in taking out the waist. My plan is to take the skimmer and place it outside the stand, have the feeder pump in the inlet part of the sump pump it to the skimmer and then return it back to the sump, I think this will work and the skimmer will be outside the stand where I can work on it allot easer.

Like I said, every skimmer has its sump requirements as the skimmer you now have needs as 10" deep sump and the height is perfect for what you have. The other thing on the ER skimmers I have, two are old ones that I had for years, but are still good, I just not know if the pumps are still operational and if you gone for it I would had checked them out in the morning.

I seen your tank shots and the tank looks great, but I have to say that I do something as that quite differently then what you shown there. For one thing in the photos your rock work looks to be piled straight up on one another as if it be a column for that gives your fish less places to hide out.

Like I said before, your tank is oover stock and when the fish grows on you, you then will see it for not now you can for it looks like your tank is still empty.

So now what you need to do with no delays is talk with your lfs people on the type of sump your looking for and switch them as soon as you can to start skimming your tanks water and please do a larger water changer each week right now until you get this done like the same 50 gals you done every few weeks.

HHHHmmmm, your idea will work, but do you really want that in the way outside of the tank? Like it be one thing that on my 240 Im getting or will get made a five foot 125 gal sump and the chiller will be relocated outside of the stand and I will cover this with a box made of the same type of wood as the stand. I guess its like everyone says, to each his own :perv: LOL Good Luck

PS> It would be a lot easier for me too to do as what you are now planning>

there are hiding places it just doesn't show that well on the picture's, I'm in the planning stages for the skimmer the main thing is that I need to get the water levels in both the sump and skimmer the same.

That is what I mean by your skimmers requirements that the skimmer you will now be using requires at least a water depth of 10" to function as properly as it should and also the air line intake needs to be adjusted if its over skimming.
