Snowflake Eels

I had to keep my tank's water level down 2" so mine wouldn't get out. Once I realized how large they really got, I found him a new home.

I finally got him to eat tonight. I took a long thin tub and stuffed the end of it with a raw shrimp. he snatched it right up and took a second peace. i feel so much better that he has finally eaten. when i was looking at him i noticed that he had a gash on the side of his head form probably jumping out can i treat it with anything or should i let nature takes its course.

You do realize he will outgrow that 30g very qiuckly? About 2' long & as thick as your wrist. Way too much bioload at 1' for my 40g.

i am moving him shortly into a ninty that we are setting up.

Great to hear! They're so cute when they're little though. Does yours eat from your hand?

i tried that but he backs away so i use a long clear tube that i stuff the end of it with food. I am a dog groomer so i have alot of different stuff on my hands from hand cream to shampoo residue and i dont want to introduce anything to my tank that will destroy the water quality. so the tube method makes me feel safer

I groom too--just wash my hands well, when I get home.

how long have you been a groomer? i am falling head over heals for this eel he is so entertaining i love to feed him. and i am extatic that he is eating as well as he is now

Those who have only HOB filters, with the most of these, some effective flow/filtering is lost, or better yet lowered to some ineffective filtering.

I doubt somewhat that its a cut somewhat other then possibly became somewhat disfigured. the only thing you can do from this point is monitor the eel and try to feed it some wide variety sea foods in which includes squid and crab.

It is not a good idea to hand feed even a SFE, for even its bite could be something painful.

That is because it sees a huge dark shadow moving nearer and is why it backs away. And what the long clear plastic tube does is becomes invisible in the water.

I used this for many years myself and which is more ideal for young juvenile species as well as dwarf eels in general.

just wait til hes swiming around that tank, that means hes hungry searching for food
The majority of this is mostly done at night, when the tank is dark. Have any of you ever wondered why most carpet surfing eels happen late at night?
