"Who's Your Daddy" is directed at Pedro Martinez. After his last game against the Yankees in the regular season he was beaten pretty badly as he had been in his last couple of meetings with them. In a press conference after the game he said (paraphrasing) "I guess there's nothing left to do but call the Yankees my daddy and get on with it" He was, I believe sarcastically, saying that he couldn't beat the Yankees. Of course NY fans jumped on that in a second and started the "Who's Your Daddy" chant, t-shirts, etc.
David Ortiz is Big Papi. The team started calling him Papi for reasons already mentioned. The Boston fans added big to it because, after all the guy is like 6'5" 230 lbs. Sorta fits.
DeVitaf- I'm giving serious thought to pressing attempted murder charges against the Red Sox for those two extra inning games to say nothing of the civil lawsuit for pain and suffering! At least they didn't make me throw up like in game 7 last year.
Sadly, the stupid college students in the Fenway area have sullied yet another joyous occasion. My wife had to work last night at an area hospital (she's a nurse on a trauma floor) and said they had a casualty last night and probably would have had more on her floor if not for the limited bed space. Apparently a 21 year old Yankee fan had his head caved in at some point during the evening. Not to mention the car flipping, burning and general mayhem these little idiots caused.
I hate to say it but I think the cops are going to have to enforce a zero tolernace on unapporved public gatherings. The crowd was fine for a while but lingered too long before the cops tried to disperse them.
