So... where are you all going to vacation this year?

T--um, no, not really likely. He's in nukes, so very little over seas is open. One of my friends did go to Okinawe--his wife moved over as well, and they were there for 3 years. Then came back stateside and worked in DC for a while. But, he was in security, rather than missile maintenance.

Hmmm... Well, my hubby and I are going to Baton Rouge in a few weeks for the National's Bowling Tourn. Just us two, so it'll be a nice weekend.

As for vacation, We're trying to plan a family trip to either the Great Wolf Lodge, or an overnighter at a Zoo. You get to sleep in an African Villiage set up and wake up to watch some of the animals (That aren't in the normal part of the zoo) released into the savanah, and even feed the giraffes.

Not sure which we're doing for sure.

I have to agree with Harlock, what's a vacation, haven't been on one in years and it doesn't look like we will be going on one for at least another couple of years

OG - the way I look at it is:

Trips: for those who do not need to rush back to get back to work. As of 2004, I fell into this category since I work from home mostly (no longer in an office setting besides my own office at home). Retired people take trips.

Vacations: this is for the working class, those who will return undoubtedly to a work load, and these are usually rare for those who aren't retired.

Retirees hardly ever use the word 'vacation' in this day and age, they take "trips". :)

I call it a trip if it's not something I get to pick to do with my free time. Time I am expected to spend on visiting family is not a vacation. A vacation means my choice of destination and timing. :)

See, only in the past couple of years have I been able to actually take time off of work for the specific purpose of doing something special...not just being sick. To me, a vacation is any time off where you are NOT working and are doing something that you enjoy more than work. Retirement is permanent vacation, and OH how I am looking forward to that, although I've got more than 30 years to go... :sad Ok, now I've depressed myself.

You are right. There is none of them over here at all. Oh well, I was hoping for a new neighbor. :) At least you two will be staying in the states then, but the not so fun part is the move and having to start over again.

I would vote for the vacation before the move because once you get to a new command there is no telling when he'll be able to get away for a vaction.
