I found my first spixi egg clutch today. Which is news in itself, but what shocked me was when I went to put the clutch back into the tank...

Here's the first clutch, inside a bottle cap for scale.

And here we have...active laying! I totally caught the old gal in the act. Please excuse the shell erosion. When I got these guys they were already in pretty bad shape. They are now in hard, high pH water with calcium-enriched foods (green beans, veggie sticks, calcium snail jello, the works). At least the new growth looks good, right? =/

Way to go, snail freak!:headbang2: Use plaster of Paris pucks for the shell erosion. It buffers the water chemistry and at the same time, encourage better shell growth They last longer and can save you bucks in the long run.:)

Those are great pics. Good timing.

congrats! I can't believe you caught her in the act. She was probably like "sheesh, a little privacy?!" Yeah, I assign way to much personality to them :)
