One of my three females was also stirring yesterday but she hasn't dug out completely.
That can happen if they're sick or unhealthy going into hibernation. Sometimes other things can happen like an animal can dig them up while they're hibernating and kill/injure them. Sometimes they wake up during a warm day and then freeze to death during a cold snap. I must say I'm always worried about them but breath a sigh of relief when they all wake up safe and sound.
Yes they bred in the fall and I should be getting a few clutches of eggs this spring. I've got my fingers crossed.
We had one when I was like 4 or 5 and living in NY. One year he never came out,don't know if it got to cold that year or what but years later when we turned the area into a garden we found its shell.
