All,
I am very happy today. Some of you may remember that back in May 2008 I announced that I had aquired a group of sterbi catfish and was hoping to breed them. This has been a very big challenge as they are listed as a "difficult" fish to breed. I had tried several times to breed them and was not successful. I am very happy to announce that 2 days ago my sterbi finally laid eggs. I was able to gather up 38 eggs and was holding my breath that the eggs would not fungus and would be fertile. I am still waiting for them to hatch but to date not one egg has fungused and I can tell that the eggs are definately fertile.

Big smiles, my husband (John) and I are jumping for joy! Now, I am hoping to breed my group of black cories.

By the way I forgot to mention that this group was wild caught and the babies will be F1's! I am so excited to watch them grow up. These new babies will get the very best of care and will be handled like gold!
 
Whoa! I've never heard of anyone breeding sterbai cories. :) Congrats and good job!

Congrats! They are fun to raise! I have a group of wilds and F1's that I've been breeding over the summer. Here's a photo of a few of the young ones I've raised. They grow like weeds!! Post your pics when you can!

Thanks, I will try to post pictures of the babies when they hatch. I can actually see the little ones moving around in the eggs. Yes, I said moving in the eggs. I never really noticed that before. Any advice about keeping the babies would be helpful. I plan on feeding them baby brine at first and then migrating over to flake.
