Stocking a 20L, Bolivian Ram or Pearl Gourami?

I'm sorry about your dwarf gourami, too, but I've not kept one alive for more than 3 months in the past 8 or 9 years, either. I think the current stock from SE Asia comes in with some illness or genetic defect that leads to a vastly shortened lifespan.

I've not kept them, but everyone I know who has has said that honey gouramis do not come with this problem. So, they seem like a preferable alternative to dwarf gouramis these days.

T-Bird, my local options don't carry too many exotic fish, so I'll probably have to go with Fed-exed fish. I was also looking at their Bolivian Rams for a centerpiece, but like you, I like to take my time and make sure. I'm still discovering new fish, the choices are amazing!

Jannika, they are indeed! I have three really great lfs within 20 minutes of the house, so luckily enough, if one doesn't have what I need... one of the others probably does. Lots of driving, but it's fun so oh well!

Did you look at the pearl gouramis? those are really pretty too! don't know what size tank you're stocking, but they might work.

OoOoO, pretty!

That looks like mine! Don't get too caught up in the exact one, killi nuts put a different name on them on EVERY variation down to the number of dots on them, and half the time you see the same naming on different fish...

Yea, I was on the thread about how long they live. I may just add one more ram, if anything. I already swapped bioload by putting the two corries down there, in lieu of adding two more pandas up top, being hard to feed up there(betta gets to algae wafers and porks way up).

That doesn't surprise me. As long as it's a gardneri, I'll be good to go! They are all so pretty.

Awww, I'm sorry about your gourami. That sucks! I hope your fry end up being something awesome! Never had the pleasure of raising any haha.

I looked closely at them, they have fan tails, probably guppies being raised in their shrimp tank for feeders. They're tiny but will eat powder-crumbled flake.
