Stocking a 29

My water is extremely hard and alkaline, for example, but that never stopped me before. I guess I just like africans better.

Yeah i may as well throw a bombshell in things here because i know i will **** someone off but you could do a 3some of Afra's in a 29gal just rock out the tank with rocks and a sandy substrate do 2 females and 1 male Afra either Cobue or Jalo reef..

If my LFS has them, maybe. They are really pretty.

I wish there was one too. Someone on cichlid-forum suggested peacocks. Yeah or neah?

I wouldn't add any Peacocks in a 29gal only 1 would do and they need more species to feel comfortable..

Bite the bullet and get a 75. You'll be much happier in the long run, and it gives you a much wider range of stocking options than a 29. I was confined to smaller tanks for years before I moved out on my own, and was able to set up a 55. Cichlids in particular are tougher to keep in smaller tanks, and there's something more satisfying about them than I find with fish that are more suitable for smaller tanks. Now I have 2 75's, 2 55's, a 38, a 30 long, 2 29's, and a 10 running. Soon to be settting up a 40, just waiting on a heater.

Problem is, I'm 15. This 29 was an expansion. Then, I somehow managed to get another 29. Maybe in a year or two, I'll try for a bigger one. For now, this is all I can have.
