Stocking a 29

Picked up 4 leleupi. Most likely 1m:3f. I am really pissed that I paid $36 for the 3 transcriptus at the same store, and they only gave me $9 back. It was the manager's "advice" that messed me up in the first place. So I will most likely never buy from them again.

Did you call them out at the pet shop if not you need to let them now that the customer is powerful.. And no i don't mean that you threaten them i mean let them know your not happy.. when they lose a customer they lose money..

Yes I did. I got very pissed off when one guy said he eidn't offer me $10, which he clearly did. I refused to use either of them to get my fish, and found a kid who is newer there.

I am really mad because they have the best selection of anything in my area, but I have been talked down to when I used the guarantee on 2 fish. The guy was mad that I didn't bring my water to get tested there, even though the rest of how many fish in my tank were fine. And yes, it was one of the 2 that "helped" me yesterday.

Yeah. Listen, does anybody have any advice as to rasing these leleupi? I am hoping to have them breed, so is there anything I should do specifically with that in mind? They range from 1-1.5 inches in length. Are they at breeding size yet? And if not, how long until they are?

PS The one suspected as a male due to behavior in the tank at the store happens to be the biggest. The rest are all pretty much the same size.

Pretty much you will end up with a pair the other two will most likely be killed.. Mine took a while to start breeding i believe they started around 3 1/2 inches i was able to save one fry from them and it is in with the baby Acei's..

That sounds hopeful (not). How come cichlid-forum has a trio of leleupi and a pair/trio as something else listed as possibilites for a 29 in the cookie cutter tool?

Also, I read that pairs of leleupi last only for about a month. Is this wrong?

It's vital for the survival of the female leleupi to have a cave that she can get into, but the male can't. As for the pair-bond only lasting a month, I don't know from personal experience, never kept leleupi myself.

Wow the diversity of fishes and species to species, is that you may end up with a harem of fish or a lone specimen usually this depends on the fish behavior

So in a sense you may end up with a dossal fish or you could land a super aggressive fish ..

So make a lot of caves, and watch carefully:popcorn:?

So far I have seen very little aggression at all towards conspecifics. That may be because they are juveniles though...
