well, I just got my tank nice and stocked on saturday, and everythings going fine.... had a wee mini-cycle, but it wasnt that bad, and all the bad stuff's nada right now and all the good stuff's in the sweet range. my questions pertain to future stocking... as you can see its pretty "basic" right now.... I was afraid id have mini-cycle, so thats why I was stingy with my livestock. my questions are twofold:

#1. I am 100% aware of the aggression levels of damsels. I know full well they are evil little poops that any self-repsecting marine aquarist loathes.... but im just wondering if EVERYTHING is out the door just because she is in there... is it possible to get a male and have them form a pair bond?

#2 I know I want some sort of decorative shrimp, but im not sure which species to get. im split three ways between a fire shrimp, scarlet cleaner shirmp, and a fire shrimp. any opinions on which one would be the wisest choice and/ro you think is better for arbitrary reasons?

yes, its fully cycled. ill give readings if you want them.

Damsels don't usually bond in pairs. And in a tank your size its likely that they will fight till the death for territory at some point in time.

As for other fish species, its up to you to chance it. Unfortunately you got a lot going against you since the damsel was added first in a small tank. You might get away with a reclusive goby that stays in one spot and hides most the of the time.

I also wanted harlequins, but they have specific feeding habits that most people can't support.

mmmmm.. it was just a shot in the dark, im not really considering anything more. one fish is fine with me... im going for a very invert-oriented tank.

LOL I messed up there, I meant a fire shrimp, scarlet shrimp, or coral banded shrimp.
