And..I don't think I have epsom salt..I only have the salt that I use in the kitchen for humans, But would that do the same thing? Or is that a horrible idea?

I am sure it's a tail..ALL her babies came out tail first at one point I thought i saw two tails @ once but THREE came out at one time!!..This is why I think now it's stuck...Even if it's not a tail (which i doubt) something is still blocking the opening for the babies!...Because she is still plump and round and I can still see some through her gravid spot...My other guppies that gave birth were EXTREMELY flat after they were done.

Is this the first time this female has dropped fry? If there are still fry to come, her body may be taking a break before dropping the next fry (it's a lot of work!) She may also not go completely "flat" right away. I suggest waiting to see what happens. You're not going to be able to do much to physically help her without hurting her, the fry or both. In the end, she may or may not survive birthing.

No, it's not the same thing. Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate (not sodium chloride like table salt). Get a package of it when you have a chance. It's good for all sorts of stuff besides your fish...try relaxing in a bath of epsom salts. :) Check out this website fore more info: http://www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/

ThanX so0o much for all the advice! It helps alot..i'm not sure if this is her first time because I bought her from my local fish store as an adult. I've only had her for about a month. But I'm guessing she was pregnant from the males mixed in her tank with her at the fish store. So maybe not her first time. Just the first time she's had babies since i've owned her.

YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

SHE DROPPED IT!..whew!...

I feel so much better now! And I bet she does too!...25 babies still however, because she ended up eating one. :( Still alot though because my other guppy released her babies 1 or 2 days ago so all together i have around 55 babies! And I have one more guppy that's extremely pregnant..even bigger than the one that just finished having hers! So i'm guessing she will be giving birth tomorrow or maybe even tonight! :)

Thanks everyone for the help or advice...I think she is done now..but i will keep her on the division side overnight just incase and so that she has time to heal from all that work!...maybe i should keep her on that side of the tank for a couple days.

Wow. I thought she would NEVER drop it! Thank goodness that's over with!

:D

Oh, no she didn't! I watched her and while I was seeing if it was still stuck one swam up towards her mouth...and she swallowed it. :(

So, the one that was stuck is healthy its swimming around and doing fine..she looks good too I would definitly be suprised if she died now. I think they will both be okay. :)

Yay! I'm glad she hasn't been going after her other babies too. My platies gobble up every single fry every time. The mom is really quick, now, with gobbling them up as soon as they come out (maybe that's why she still looks fat after she's done! Out of three broods, I haven't seen one survive that I haven't saved. :(

awww..I'm sorry to hear that! :(

Maybe you should seperate her with a tank divider (NOT a breeding contraption) or in a seperate like 5 gallon tank when she is pregnant and put some java fern/java moss
/hornwort...the babies will hide in there and she won't be able to find them as fast..she would be too tired to look through all the plants! The fry will hide in them and eat the nutrients the plants provide which is very good for them. Then within 24 hours of her birth move her back into the other tank..or seperate her somewhere else so seh has a day or two to heal and so the males don't harass her. Most all of your babies will survive! I usually have 98% - 100% survive that way! :)

Good Luck!

There's quite a bit of hiding space in the new tank, actually. She literally turns around before the babies fall completely and snatches them up. If she doesn't get them, then the other fish are hunting them down. I should get some horwort though, it may help. But, at the same time, I'm not too concerned since I don't have space to keep tons of babies anyway. My 10 gallon has 5 fry in it now...they keep disappearing one by one though...started with 9. One disappeared into the filter (the pre-filter I put on the intake didn't cover it well enough) and didn't survive, then two more got sucked into the filter...I saved them, but they didn't survive. :( I've since improved the prefilter, so no more fry disappearing that way. Since then another one has disappeared. Tank parameters are great, I change the water frequently. The pH has risen a bit though (likely due to a rise in pH on our tap water.)

Oh..Maybe try a sponge filter. My babies don't get sucked up only because I keep some just with a divider in my big tank with the adults...except tehy are divided so the adults can't get to them but they have the same water conditions even though there is no filter on their side...I find that to work best for me. You can get the dividers cheap at petsmart and they work great!
