Stupid Coralife Timer!! ARGH! Need help!

I have one of these- let me take a look at it when I get home and I can try to give you step by step instructions. I had some trouble with it at first too but once I got it working, it's been fine.

I ordered one with some other stuff from an online vendor...don't remember who. Anyway Never could get the d***n thing programmed. I finally got so stinking mad I think I threw it away!!

You cannot program a separate off time for the nightlights. When the yellow outlets are on the blue outlets are off and vice versa.
Like most timers it does not know whether it is supposed to be on or off. Only when it is supposed to change. That is why it will default to off when you program it and then click into normal schedule once it reaches it's first trip point.
In program mode set time 1 on at 9 am, press program button again and set time 1 off at 9 pm. Press clock to exit. Set the mode to auto. Starting at the next time the clock hits 9 am the yellow outlets will come on and the blue outlets will turn off. At 9 pm the yellow outlets will turn off and the blue ones will come on.

I use timers on all my large canisters 50W (cycling on-30/off-30) and UV filters (on-12/off-12), lights are not critical for me since my plants are outside the tank and use mostly window light and my 18W hood light are always off unless Im cleaning or observing which actually help the fish see outside better making their environment seem larger.

Anyway do yourself a favor and buy an simple analog timer not a digital which can be affected by all kinds of things from solar flairs to lightning strikes. This simple 58 manual analog switch timer works on simple switches and motor technology so when power goes out and resumes it working every time and you never need a manual to figure out or remind you a year later how it works becasue its cave-man designed and durable and for only $5.27 handling 15A (15A equivalent to an electric lawn mower) its a great bargain. You can either run them on one item or an entire power strip.

CWO - I have the Marineland version of that timer. It wasthe only 3-prong one i was able to find at the time. I have my lights, co2 and other timed equipment running off of a power strip that it is connected to.

Analong timers are the best IMHO. They require no 'programming' if the power goes out all you have to do is turn the dial back to the correct time. If you forget the lights will still go one and off....you just might wonder why they went on @ 2AM

The coralife one though, for one, has a lot of outlets, and second, let you alternate between what's on and off. Like, if you want O2 on at night only, or moonlights at night. It's more complicated, but it also does a lot more. I have a coralife, and an analog like the one above, they have dfferent uses.

If I want to use one of these on a power strip or 3 prong all I do is use a $2 adapter that has a 3 prong female on one end and a 2 prong male at the other end with a long ground wire for the 3rd prong ground you connect to the center screw of tour wall outlet base-plate. If I need room on the power strip to mount several on a power strip that wont fit I use $1 mini extension cords. The point is you have a larger resource of individual simple timers that can be used on other tanks and in different applications & combination without having to invest a allot of money and not requiring a cryptologist handbook on how to get it working again.

You'r menu has 4 settings- off-on -auto & whatever ( I don't use it). Program you'r on/off times. Set menu to on,Your day lights should be on & night lights off! NOW WAIT,until your off time! A few minuts after the off time set menu to auto, daylights should go off & nightlights come on.

Don't forget that the Coralife Digital timer will also allow you to set different on/off times for different days which an analog cannot do. For example I am at work M-F so I have my lights come on at 3 pm and go off at 9 pm (when I am at home). On Saturday and Sunday I have them come on at 9 am and go off at 10 pm for the same reason. To set a different day press the "day" button when programming until the right day or combination of days appears at the top of the screen.
