Suggestions please for a 20 G

I want to try the following and I hope you folks can comment accordingly:

9 Giant Danios
3 Cories
2 Keyhole cichlids or 2 Rams
2 Kribensis

Would this be too much load for my tank?

The tank has been set-up for just two weeks (1 week fishless cycle 1 week cycle with 6 Giant Danios) these are the water reading:

Amonia 0 - 0.5 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate (test kit does not measure)
PH 7.6-7.8
KH 107 (6 dkh)
GH 143 (8 dgh)
 
choose between the kribs or the keyholes/rams. they will occupy the same niche in the tank and that could lead to problems. i didnt notice that your ph was a bit alkaline so now that i see it i would definatly opt for old worlds. shellies or kribs.
 
What do you mean by 'one week fishless cycle'? A true fishless cycle, with no established media, takes longer than one week to complete. If you were running the tank and filter, but not adding any ammonia source, the tank has not cycled. If you have not seen high ammonia and nitrites, it's likely that the tank is currently cycling, and I would strongly suggest you not add any more fish until this process completes. You may want to look into Bio Spira, as well.

Rich, I am not familiar with the 'shellies' species, could you provide more information.

Oriongirl, I did not want to give the impression that I believed the tank had completed its cycle process. In the first week I introduced sinking pellets as well as increased the water temp to initiate the production of ammonia/nitrites. In the second week after the introduction of the giant danios I have been doing water tests daily to monitor the ammonia/nitrite levels. I have also done weekly water changes 25% (including lite gravel vacuum to pick up food debris and fish waste).

The addition of more fish is planned to occur over several weeks, although, I was only thinking of increasing the danio school from 6 to 9 unless the forum believes this may strain the water chemistry.

Well, I think it is very responsible of you to try and cycle your tank at all. How big are your giant danios currently? Just so we can see how much of the bioload they occupy.

This:
9 Giant Danios
3 Cories
2 Keyhole cichlids or 2 Rams
2 Kribensis

Is too much for a 20 gallon. And I think you may want to stick with 6 giant danios so you can have your 3 cories and a pair of larger fish.
 
Hmm... so they still have a while to grow. I guess you could get 9 while they are still small but you run the risk of overloading when they're all grown up to 3-4". I would suggest you stay with 6 if you want variety and other fish.
 
So could I get away with 6 Giant Danios, 5 Cories (perhaps of a dwarf variety) and 2 rams.

The tank is furnished with 2 rocks (with holes), small piece of drift wood, 1 small cave and 3 plastic plants ( 1 that goes to the top of water, 1 medium and 1 small). The plants are located in 3 of the 4 aquarium corners. Filtration is aqua clear 150 (full flow to maximize current and surface agitation).
 
Yashinfan, you are absolutely correct the German blue is a great looking fish! I just hope they can tolerate my higher ph levels.

With respect to the cories, I was thinking 5 as I thought they are a schooling fish and would be happier in a larger group. If a group of three is sufficient then that’s great!:D
