I have a sw tank in back of our couch/sleeper sofa that is our bed. During maintenance I spilled some saltwater on it and now there is a big mark!!

I rubbed the couch with a wet cloth but it didn't help, almost made it worse!

The material is kind of chennille-ish? When you rub it in different directions it makes marks.

My boyfriends parents just bought us this couch so we had somewhere to sleep. If they see this mark I'm pretty sure his mom will cut off my head.

Has anyone has this problem before? Please help me! I'm to young to die!!

:help:

Hm, never had saltwater "stain" anything. Try some upholstery cleaning stuff that is water based. Test its reaction somewhere unnoticeable.

Look for a label on the couch if you don't know your manufacturer. It might even have a number to call their support number. If not look them up on the web and ask them what the best way will be to remove this type of stain. If the furniture is new and has any kind of an anti-stain warranty you might be able to get a replacement, professional cleaning etc. But it is going to be dependant on what options were purchased at the time of sale.

I have a stain on my wife and I's bedroom carpet from some wet rowaphos after changing it, I'll blame it on the dog if she says anything:liar:

If it is microfiber you should be able to get it out with rubbing alcohol and Q-tips or cotton balls. When I use to work at a furniture store we used it and it even took pen marks out. All you do is dab a little rubbing alcohol on the q-tip and rub. Use very little rubbing alcohol (less is better, do not soak the q-tip or cotton ball), then after the first one go through with dry ones to work the spot over. Try it in a hidden spot first, but that should work and remember, never use water to get out a stain, the minerals and stuff in the water will leave watermarks. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips!

SW does stain, come look at my couch! There are even dots from where the water must have dripped from my hands1 I had a throw over the mark so they wouldn't see it so I will have to see what I can do about it tomorrow.

My GF parents have a microfiber couch and all the have to do is rub a slightly wet washcloth on the mark and it comes right out.. So I'm assuming its not microfiber. I default to my original suggestion.

I spilled a bucket of SW across my floor and nothing happened. I didnt really even try to clean it up to much. I just stood on some towels and put fans on it. No stains and no smell.
