syphoning tank in basement?

It comes down into the basement but only along the ceiling in the basement then goes out about 2 ft down from the ceiling. The ceiling is 12' so I would have pump water up about 6 ' from sink to the exit point for the pipes. They go in a tunnel over to the next building from here as this is a condo im not sure I think I would just go with a mechanical pump of some sort.

Okay, I'm following you now...

Maybe Yucca has the right idea. Sump pumps have float switches that turn on when the water reaches a certain level. You can also buy pvc sumps at home depot or lowes that hold maybe 25 gallons or so. You could siphon your tank into that and the sump pump would turn on and off automatically to pump the water up to your drain pipe. You could even think about buying a pre-drilled tank (in the bottom), add a bulkhead, valve, and hose and you can drain water to the sump just by opening the valve.

Weeeee... I'm sure glad our laundry room is in my basement. I have 16 tanks running down there. Just yesterday, I had a plumber run copper tubing from my well tank to the laundry sink where I had him T it to 2 garden hose spigots. I can use the python to drain my tanks without running public water and I can use the other spigot to run my RO/DI. Free water rules...

It would be nice if I had a laundry room in the basement that would be great but im just happy I have a cement floor down there. Here in Rural New Enland most of the houses have old dirt basements with rock walls as the foundation so at least I have the option where at all my other residences I never did. I hope to buy a house in 4 or 5 years maybe Ill just wait till then but I can see the pump working out alright thanks for all your input guys.
