Keep checking the online cichlid sites; if they import cichlids they may bring in some eels as well. You can subscribe for updates to their stocklists to find out when new shipments will arrive.
I had some places bookmarked. I didn't know about subscribing though. I will look into that.
I'm hesitant to ask my lfs about it. They "might" be able to get some but the last time I order fish from them they had some horrible disease that killed them all so I don't trust their supplier right now.
Atlantis has wild caught elipsifer. Must....resist.....
It's looking like my mbuna are getting a tank upgrade! Either a 72 or an 80 gallon depending on how the craig's list search goes.
I've decided I WILL get one of these eels 2 things need to happen first, make that 3 things. First my mbuna get their upgrade (in the works)
Second, the weather gets warmer. It's too cold here!
Third I get my tax return back
Also I had another question. It just dawned on me that these eels are pretty much all wild caught. I've never owned wild caught fish before. Is it difficult to get them to adjust to tank life? I think my tap parameters are ok. Out of the tap the water is liquid rock with a Ph of 8.0. My mbuna tank stays around 8.2.
Atlantis pretty well always has them in stock. The eels will live just fine in 8.0, I used baking soda and epsom salt to treat the water for my plagiostoma pair. My tap water is around 7.4.
