Tank Decor - Deer Antlers-

rosswake, if you like the branching look, are there dark-colored replica branching coral? That way, it's fake so it won't impact your pH and it's got the branching aspect you like.

something like this http://aquarium-supply.biz/products/NI-71A.jpg
That was just the first darker one (not pink or white) that I saw, in a 2 second internet search.

Thats not a bad idea, do they have that kind of thing at Petsmart and Petco? Those are about the only place I shop b/c the LFS's around here are pretty nasty. At least at the PetGiants, the fish are all alive and healthy. Employees might not be completely helpful, but fish are generally good. Where could I see a picture of the replica coral you are talking about?

I added one in my last post by edit.

I have seen some at pet stores, but they're usually tacky colors like bright pink or fuschia or yellow. Not your style, I'm guessing. I think dark green or deep blue might be the best you can find, since corals naturally tend to be brightly colored.

sorry, for some reason, the rest of your post didn't come through until after I wrote my post, I'll check the pic out now.

Thats not bad, but my tank doesn't carry that type of coral theme very well. It is more of a natural freshwater lake type of tank. Lots of brown, gray and green in it. I'll post a picture tonight so you'll know what i'm talking about. I think that piece of coral would look a little out of place.

I know. Those coral replicas are so cheesy-looking sometimes. I think sometimes they stand out like a sore thumb, even in marine tanks, so I don't blame you!

Maybe you could paint over it with some kind of fishy-safe substance. What kind of paint do people use for the back of their tanks?

I read that the best to use is acrylic because it dries fast and won't chip or flake. I was thinking about putting something like that on the back/outside of mine. It will look a lot better than the stick on background I have going right now. (i think/hope) lol.
