Tank Dilema - which tank to buy?

true. but I don't mind the extra effort to clean because it is worth it for the look IMO.

the way I figure is this: we spend lots of time watching our fish, but really only a small amount of time actually doing the cleaning.

really, a 1/3 water change once per week even on a big tank is only a 30-40 minute job.

I have emailed my LFS and asked them to get me a quote from the local company on a 29" tall tank (with the black silicone).

if the price is right - I will go with the best of both worlds - the extra height and the black silicone.

if it is too much, I will go with the Aqueon stock tank.

either way, I am going to go with a 29" tall tank. With big fish plans in the near future, I figure I better have all the room and water volume that I can given the choices..

if you get the aqueon tank, maybe you could get some sort of thin black plastic strips and just run them along the seams on the outside of the glass to the width of the silicone? maybe some skinny electrical tape would work as long as you were careful and didn't wrinkle it. or even do them a little thicker to match the size of the stand? that way the whole tank would almost look framed.

yeah, I was thinking about something like that.

it used to be when you purchased the cabinet stands with the full canopies that they would come with wooden strips like that, which matched the canopy and stand.

but I never see them anymore..

what, none for me?! ;) heh. good times man.. glad you got good pics, i'm sure the memories are even better. :)

LMAO!!! Thats awesome. Glad you did end up getting the best of both worlds! :headbang2:
