Tank for Christmas

I wouldn't. Those pom poms are actually little anemones and they sting things with them. I would get an anemone (Porcelain) crab instead. Those are cool little critters to watch catch things with their fans. They don't require an anemone like the name would suggest, they just usually hang out on the underside on them for protection.

darn i really like those little guys. maybe ill get one for my aquapod.

ok so my choices have been updated a little

choice 1: 3 sexy shrimp, 1 porcelain crab, and 1 small goby(trimma or eviota more than likely)

choice 2: 5 sexy shrimp, and 2 gobies

oh no it i did my part when i set the tank up i will cycle it and start collecting corals i will make a poll to see what everyone thinks and then use the results to help me chose which i want to do more lol

i had to go to home depot earlier and while there i passed by the plumbing section and i had planned on splitting the outlet of the pump so i was gonna get a T and a couple elbows but then the gears in my brain started turning and i got a much better idea. so i picked up a hand full of T's(didnt get as many as i needed) i also got a handful of elbows(also didnt get as many as i needed) i didnt get any set numbers because i didnt know how many id need so i just got some of each so i could mock something up and see how it looked. i also got a 5ft long piece of pex line which i have no clue what it is used for but from my research it is tank safe.

now the plan i have is to attach it to the pump and have the rockwork all around it and have it aimed so it blows the water through the rock which i have seen done some in larger systems

now i painted in the T's and Elbows that i was missing now it is hard to draw them in and make it look like they are pointed in the right directions. i did try to make it so i wasnt drawing pieces in on both sides so that you could tell what it is supposed to look like from how the other side looks.

the elbows coming off the sides will be pointed at different angles towards teh center of the tank and the T at the top will be pointed up somewhat towards the waterline

ok i stopped by Homedepot today and picked up some more T's and elbows and one angled piece(like 120* angle) and made a new mock up that will get one tiny change which will be to replace one of the elbows with another angle.

forgive the horrible tape job this was done quickly and for the last part of the mock up i had a dog constantly nudging me for attention lol.

ok i am changing my plans up a bit. i have joined a pico contest on another site so i will be going a bit more over the top than i had originally planned. i have chosen to ditch the hood and stock filter altogether and i have also ditched my plans for modding the stock hood for the 2x18w PC bulbs. instead i will be using a Nova Extreme Pro 20in light that i got for $50 when i bought another tank. i have also decided to mod an AC30(which i am purchasing from Bo_) into a fuge which will also add 150gph of flow. i am still gonna use the surface skimmer attachment along with a little bit of filterfloss in the first "chamber" of the modded AC30. the heater (already ordered the stealth but will also be getting a hydor theo 50w from Bo_) will go in the second "chamber" of the modded filter. i have also changed up the pipework some in my head in a way that should increase the output and give me a more random flow.

i have also changed up my coral choices. i will still have zoas and maybe a shroom or 2 but i will also be including some LPS, im thinking a frogspawn would look good on ones side(maybe the sexies will host it), along with a couple acan rocks in the front of the tank.

i have also decided to do a lifted reef. more because it looks cooler and it is different than anyother reason.

i have also finalized my stocking and it will be like this: 3 sexy shrimp, 1 porcelain crab, and 1 small goby(either a trimma or eviota species)

i have either ordered or have all of the equipment i am going to need for this build except an ATO(might buy one after the contest because there is a lowest budget prize that i am gonna try to win lol) which i wont have for awhile unless i can find a good brand(like jbj, tunze, etc.) for cheap

i am also going to be going to the LFS tomorrow and buy some small dead rock and see if they carry the LS i want in the 10lb bag(smallest bag they sell). once i get the dead rock and start receiving my equipment i will start designing my aquascape and once i get it all decided i am going to glue the rocks together.

good luck
