Tank Re-sealing 101

ha...to be honest though I've never considered myself a DIY type of person and always avoided fixer-up-er tanks on CL and the sort. You've convinced me to start looking for free tanks even with sealing problems!

If I remember correctly, he's rebuilding a tank, not just resealing the inside, so it's a bit different. I think, he's replacing an entire pane.

Woe! Im glad I saw this read before proceeding tomorrow with the bottom and and vertical inside seals. I was a little scared when in the article the author was talking about seam thickness becasue I thought he was referring to the thickness of silicone between the panels as mine are as they originally were thin. In fact the only way you can consistently create a sized seam between panels is to use 1/16" ceramic tile spacers taht have to be pulled out after curing and refilled after, something I was not willing to do. But it appears that the author is not referring to the seal between the panels but rather the wide inside corner seals that prevent water leakage. So tomorrow I will be focused on wide inside seals on both the bottom and vertical corners.

You can imagine the impact his article had on me considering his tank was only 75 gallon and mine being 225!
 
I also resealed a 125, and although I did it differently, i didnt repanel it..

the seams on the 125 are quite a bit thicker, and still holding after 3 years.

Gunner, what is your current project? are you building a glass tank or repairing one?
