Tank Sales at PetSmart/Pet Supplies Plus?

Sorry - Don't know where else to ask this.

I read someplace on the net (honestly I forget where) that at PetSmart around January or February (inventory time) they have a sale on aquariums, I read is was a $1 a gallon sale. Does anybody know anything about this?

There is also a Pet Supplies Plus near me, but I don't really like/support that particular chain so I don't go there as much, but does anybody know if they have any kind of similar sale?

Reason I ask is within the next 9 months I'm going to need a larger tank (10" pleco and 10" bichir are in a 30 gallon) and that would be an ideal situation to get a 55 gallon or larger tank.

I don't know of any sales, but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Go with the "or larger".
 
The $1 a gallon sale is for PetCo and does not include a canopy/strip light/hood nor a stand.. in reality, it's not too great of a deal unless you're going for a super huge tank.
 
Haven't heard of that one with petsmart, and we didn't have it last january...our sales change monthly, sometimes theres awesome aquatics deals (i think there was one a few months ago for a 48G tank/canopy/stand for $150 off asking price (or something around there, i don't remember exactly) so just check their monthly savings on the website.
hmm i don't think our inventory was in jan/feb either...lol
 
Yeah... It may have been total BS, or wishful thinking when I read it before. I seen that my PetSmart does have a 50G wood-trim tank with hoods for around $115, which overall seems like the best thing I see locally.
 
I wouldn't wait for the sale, I think you need the larger tank now....
 
Check out craigslist and local classifieds, too...usually much better deals there than @ PSP or Petsmart...and tanks may come with all the 'other stuff' too.

Keep your eyes open, too. Our PSP just remodeled...I got a 20H and a dual 20 stand for $5 each...tank needed cleaned and stand needed repainted...but the price was right. Another time I got a UGF for $5 and a 10W light for $1 at PetsMart. I try to hit all the chain petstores once very week or so just to see what's on sale or closeout.

Ya, I agree; we have a pretty good PetSmart with good fishkeepers, so I frequently frequent it (:) . I've never seen the "dollar per gallon" sales, which I watch for as I'm into bigger tanks now. They will have the occasional sale on a particular tank, usually with stand. I agree with kj5b--check craigslist!!
And go bigger--those two "kids" need more room!!
