?Tanked?, a New TV Show for Aquarium Enthusiasts

I don't have any marine tanks yet but even I saw somethings that I knew were bad... from a total beginner's stand point. They seriously over stock some tanks. That one with the sharks was horrible. And yeah, the telephone booth one too but the worst was either the shark one or the Jukebox one.

Fake coral inserts are pretty ugly and just blegh but I can't really think that the vast majority of their clientele would be able to keep coral alive. They just all want something crazy and pretty to look at. If it requires a little bit of reading up on or any learning, I don't think they'd be so interested anymore.

And the latest show with the circle tank on hydraulics... Really. What did they think was going to happen when they put a bunch of rays in? Of course they'd bury themselves, especially with such an open tank with no edges. And a guitar fish. Don't those guys get particularly large? Too large for that 600 gallon tank? So what was their answer to the problem? They just threw a bunch of other fish in, on top of the rays, so everybody would have something to look at.

They should just stick to making tanks and let the clientele stock them. I don't see how they could do any worse themselves.

Oh yeah, and that one guy keeps petting the fish at the fish dealer.

Was what they said about goldfish even true?

Well, having been to several wholesalers myself, it is exactly like they showed. You actually scoop fish out of cubicles with your hand and place them in the cart/plastic bin for most smaller fish or rare fish that are kept by themselves, although I never sat there and just pet the fish like shown in the show. I had to do that for my Potter's wrasse in my avatar. Certain fish you should never do that to though, like a puffer fish. They are housed in larger tanks so you can scoop them out with a container so they are not exposed to air.

Yes, it is true what they said about goldfish.

As far as the upkeep of the tanks is concerned, most of the customers on the show probably hire services to come and take care of that for them. The businesses do for sure. These are expensive display tanks, even if they don't know how to care for fish, they don't want a dirty looking tank full of dead fish on their hands, and they've obviously got a ton of money to spend on their tanks.

I doubt the diner had a bunch of $ to spend on fish.. the rest of the tanks sure. I can see 1-5 dead fish PER DAY in the diner tank. I bet it lasts a month before they remove it because they are not going to want to walk in each morning and first thing they think about is scooping dead fish out of the tank, and they certainly don't want dead fish in the tank while people are eating. Most service contracts they come out 1-2 time a month to clean the tanks, not daily.

I haven't seen that episode yet. Downloading it now.

Oh yes, I certainly know where to find it, I just hadn't gotten around to it yet. ;)

So we can collectivly agree that they are great at making tanks and horrible at stocking them then?
