Tanks with Fake Plants

Why are fake plants and decorations so frowned upon?

Once I went with real plants, that was it. Suddenly my tanks that had fake ones looked like crap to me. Plus, the benefits of live plants are numerous. No way I could stock the way I do without them helping clean the water. It's tough with plant destroying fish though...:wall:

But all that matters is that each person likes their own tank. Doesn't matter what others think, if you like the way fake plants look then that is all that matters.

Yeah my taste changed too. I use to love the way fake plants looked but then i started enjoying the more natural aquascape look that's when real plants came into the picture.

Derision for anyone who doesn't go along with the herd, no matter how impractical, an air of superiority, trying to influence everyone to their way of thinking. The Plant People are a cult. ;)

Here's a bunch from many different phases...a few different incarnations of my 29 gallons, and a shot of one of my first tanks, an Eclipse 12 (my first was a 10 gallon kit). Obviously fake plants must not be all bad, since my cories routinely lay eggs amidst it :grinyes:

As always, a point and shoot camera and a lack of much camera skills doesn't do your tanks justice. Live plants look much better no matter what the photography, fake plants look so flat and uninspiring. However in person, they can be completely satisfactory, IMHO!

They don't need special light

They don't die

The don't bring in pest snails

They don't need CO2, ferts or anything.

Neither does Java ferns or Anubias. Use some SuperGlue Gel and glue or tie either to a rock and watch the magic. And the Cichlids wont much on either of them.
