Tanks with Fake Plants

I hate real plants in aquariums lol. Outside of the tank is a totally different story altogether. Grow a hanging fern, hippies. Just kidding :)

Ok, here's some food for thought.

Bare bottom discus tank with sponge filter...
Angelfish breeding tank with slate...
Killifish pico tank with peat bottom...

These are all fine, even tough they have NO greenery in them. But fake plants, oh no! Must be a newb :o

Neither does Java ferns or Anubias. Use some SuperGlue Gel and glue or tie either to a rock and watch the magic. And the Cichlids wont much on either of them.
So java fern and anubias don't die or possibly bring in pest snails...hhhmmm good to know.
I say if you want to go with the gaudiest gravel and the most garish plants then so be it, after all you are the one who has to look at it and most importantly the one who is paying for it. I think your tank looks lovely the way it is now though :)

I have 2 other tanks that are planted and they are fine. This one isn't planted and that's fine too :)

Thank you. The stupid pleco knocked over some rocks so they have to be moved around. I will most likely keep a similar design I just want something more vertical so fish can get away better when being chased.

UMM your putting words in my mouth, LOL. If you clean your plants PROPERLY no pest will be introduced. Since Poor lighting is a problem put the plants HIGH on top of the rocks.

And sorry....Castles? no I don't like them in tank (I don't) Mid as well have a scuba diver and a bubbling clam.

BUT yea if done right and with GOOD quality fake plants (not the walmart variety) I have seen some decent looking fake plant tanks.

I like fake plants as they are easy to maintain. I wouldn't have the patience to keep my 55g nice looking with real plants lol. Here is my tank :)

Here's another fake plant version of my 75g:

I have killed both but have better luck with crypts and Vals...go figure. Not every tank will work with real plants. Fake plants, as shown here, don't have to be about clown puke gravel and tacky decor.

On another note, I can't even have fake plants in my cray tank. She eats those too. :duh:

Molly I think it looks nice, until you get to the gravel..The plants look almost real with the picture you took. If that was a sand or something a little more natural looking that could pass for a real tank any day.
