Tapping on the glass

I always am sure to show off my home made gun collection first. Then what I say goes. No one taps on my glass. My house isn't a baseball diamond - you don't get 3 chances.

i never knew people tapped on the tank when they went to feed, i just put my hand toward the lid and the fish are already pointed straight up waiting for the first thing that hits the water...finger or food

I dont have to worry about people tapping on my tanks. I dont let anyone go near them. I am the only one who does the maintenance and what not. My wife will feed once or twice a week, but other than that there is no reason for anyone to approach my tanks and when they do I am there telling them to keep fingers off of the glass all together. No need for fingerprints.

Yup. Fish don't need to be told about food. They know when its coming - or quickly figure it out.

I have a lot of plants in my tanks so the fish will usually be unable to see my hand about to feed them. That's why I tap the tank a little. Of course if you have a wide open tank, your fish should definitely be coming on their own.

I always have gave a little tap on the lid before feeding..Maby them knowing its for a feeding it doesnt bother them. I could see if just randomly tapping the glas may scare them, not knowing what just happened..

I don't recommend tapping on the glass of the aquarium. You have to remember that aquarium is their home. Would you want some one banging on your house? I think not.

ive noticed that if you put your ear up to the tank its quite noisy in there already.

i dont think its the tapping i think its the noise any loud unfamiliar noise would startle a fish if they get use to it then its not a problem.
