someone was talkin about this in another thred, really i did not think about how bad it must be until i saw a pic on MFK in another form about a fish farm, and then i found a video on you tube it got worse and worse....i really do not even wanna think about how they did it to the fish, sucks

just posted this to tell people do not buy these fish....really just think what they did to get that on them

poor parrots, are they wearing lipstick or something? the fish look disgusting afterwards, i don't know why people would buy tattooed fish.
 
I'll usually ask the fish store owner/person in charge if they are aware of the process and what those fish actually are. If they say no, I'll let them know and generally they feel bad for stocking them. If they say yes I'll kindly inform them that I will continue to window shop, but will not purchase anything unless they stop stocking those fish. So far it has worked in a couple of stores.
 
ya see "painted" or dyeing fish even tho i do not like it, i think it has become more of an accepted thing, if that is what u would call it. in the way that "experienced" fish keepers do not like it, but let it go because newcomers, younger kids, or people that are just in it for the "look" of the aquarium seem to find it "cool" or "attractive".This is why many fish stores still stock them. For example wheni was younger and i first started fish keeping i got two "painted" fish, why?? because they were pink and blue!!

But when you tattoo a fish you make it a joke, sure painting a fish is wrong but when they do it they make it one color yellow/pink/blue to make it as i said above "attractive" to people as an unrealistic color but still "believable" but in my mind when you tattoo a fish to make it look like it has lipstick on??? or a heart on its side???? thats makin that fish a joke, and an extreme example would be humiliation, if fish knew what that was

That is absoulutly horrible :sad: It makes me sick..what pet stores do these days. Poor, poor fish :sad: ! I hope you dont still shop there. You shouldnt shop at pet stores anyway (check out link in signature). I just cant get over it :sad:

Okay, good. Do you shop at pet stores at all? I encourage you to scroll the pages in the website in my signature. It really contains some nice information about pet stores, feeding fish, where to get your fish, etc. etc. etc. I love the site.
