I will just sell it at the garage sale. Besides, paypal has been giving me a lot of crap lately. Last time I used it, it held the money between the buyer and me for a month, but I shipped the item right away and he had it and used it for weeks before paypal would let me get the money.

just got my testing kit and water changer that hooks up to the faucet. My tanks both tested good for ammonia, but I didnt test nitrates or nitrites yet. I was too excited to use the water changer. THAT THING IS AMAZING! did about a 30% water change in about 5 min on my 10g. That includes wrapping the thing back up.

My only problem was that I had to watch the water, when it got close to full I had to run into the bathroom and shut the water off, then close the valve on the gravel tube, and then roll it up and drain the water from it. If you screw this up, you will end up with high pressure in your hose and it will look like this. (not mine btw, someone who bought on amazon and screwed up)

fill at a slower rate and then the valve at the tube should be good...

Might try that, but I dont know if I can slow it down much and still have water flow. I will try next time though.

I finished testing on both thanks. Stupid me, I tested nitrite and nitrates after the water change. But I did not to a water change on the 5g, and it is indeed cycled from my testing. I used filter media and some decor out of the 5g to help try to see the 10g. The only problem is there is only one fish in there that could be providing waste for the bacteria and the cycle. So I am going up the the lfs tomorrow and seeing what they have to say about it. Will probably come home with some glowlight tetras (think they are hardy right?). If they are hardy I might get some, that will def help determine if it is cycled. Then I can finish stocking from there.

I honestly don't see why you need the water changer for a 10 and a 5, it just seems like a bigger pain setting it up than using buckets.

It may seem that way, but in reality it worked very well and was a breeze to do the 10 with it. I dont have a whole lot of extra hose lying around or getting in the way. My buckets all started cracking and unless you wanted to do 1/3 gallon trips each time, you were going to spill water. Having water on the floor annoys me all day. Havent used it for the 5g though. I will probably just use the water changer to fill the 5g, and might come up with something to attach my smaller gravel vac to it. I dont get why everyone complains about setting it up and stuff. Unscrew the airator from you faucet, and screw the assembly on. Keep in mind some (if not most) faucets are not righty tighty lefty loosy, but they are the opposite. I did the water change in under 10 min and that includes putting the water changer together. Oh, and I am probably getting a 29 in the somewhat near future.

I shut off the air pump in my brine shrimp hatchery a little while ago and let things settle. I was expecting like in all the videos where the shells are on the top and the shrimp are in the middle or bottom. Mine had most of the shells at the top, but there were still some on the sides and stuff. At first glance I only saw one shrimp, but now after looking a bit more there is a good number of them. I am just glad any hatched at all, the best heat source I had for them was a tiny light bulb and my dad made me keep it away from the thing effectively doing nothing. Plus my hatchery is made out of the 20 oz mt dew bottles, not 1 liter bottles. For half a packet of salt/eggs (package comes with 3 packets) I actually got a good number of brine shrimp to hatch.

i think i can do water changes with buckets in a 10 in 10 min.

Probably, but my previous gravel vac was with one that the hose was about 1.5ft long and the vac was hard to get running. Werent you just saying in another thread how you wanted one? Cant beat it for $24 on amazon.

you guys can say all you want, but for me it was easier and worked much better than my normal vacs. Plus I dont need to lay down like 8 towels to help combat the inevitable fact that water will spill. I had no leaks or anything wit the water changer. Plus when I upgrade to a larger tank, I will be able to use it.
