Teeth getting pulled : /

Well thanks for making me feel even older.... lol

Best wishes for as painless a procedure and as quick of recovery as possible!

Only thing I ate for three days after was vicoden But, It helped me forget I was even hungry. I was lucky I only had the bottom ones but they where impacted and broke my molar in half and it got infected so it was removed to. I felt so much better afterwards.

Good luck

Been home for about an hour and a half now. It sucks pretty bad, the numbness is starting to go away, but I keep bleeding and it wont stop, which is making me very mad because I'm really really hungry haha. Looks like ill only be having dinner tonight.

Gauss already changed out 3 times. Well, thanks for you guy's support. :]

I went through the same thing, changing out gauze over and over again. Its so gross.

Its so depressing when your stomach is like "feeeed meee" yet you can't eat because of some wound in your mouth!

*Both* of my daughters went through this last week.

Shakes, soups, overcooked noodles... get used to 'em for ~3 days. Small sips, NO STRAWS.

Get some frozen peas - 4x or 6x 1 or 2lb bags. Cover w/ paper towels taped on. Put on a hooded sweat shirt. Put hood up. Put frozen peas inside hood on ea. side. Rotate w/ frozen ones every half hour or 45 min. Stay somewhat propped up in a recliner or something. Sleep through Oprah.

TAKE YOUR MEDS ON TIME. You may feel OK until an hour past your med time, but the 45min between the time you start hurting again & you take the med and the time it starts working will suck hard. It's best to avoid that.

If they gave your Tylenol 3 (300mg Acetaminophen, 30mg Codeine) and it works for you, fine. If it isn't working for you, call them up and tell them you'll save those for when you have a bad cough and that you want some Percocet (Acetaminophen/Oxycodone) or Vicoden (Acetaminophen/Hydrocodone) - if you have a solid stomach. Vics make some people sick, some others tend to see stuff on Vicoden.

soak a tea bag in water, let it cool, squeeze it out, put it over the section that's bleeding, and bite on it. Doesn't taste great, but the tannins in the tea bag will eventually stop the bleeding. You may go through a lot of tea bags, but this DOES work.

Oh, and once you're healing, don't vigorously swish water or other liquids in your mouth when you brush your teeth. You'll lose the little clots that form over the holes where your teeth were pulled, and you'll get dry sockets. Those REALLY suck.

Good luck!

Eat yogurt and soup; takes your pain meds; use ice packs and do not smoke or use a straw. Good luck; I can still remember my pain like it was yesterday. In fact I would rather give birth than go thru that again. I could not take the good drugs so I had to tuff it out. UGH!

I just had mine done this past Feb. Not cool. I hated it. I think that my oral surg might have OD me a little. I don't remember much of anything except when mom woke me up at home and gave me more meds and went right back to sleep. Mom told me I slept for about 6 hr after surg. Ha I had eight before I went in at 8 in the morn. I didn't remember getting in the car stopping at the pharmacy or anything. Mom even said that I shook hands with him before I left. LOL I don't remember anything except Morphine didn't cut the pain. They had to cut some of my jaw bone out to get the impacted teeth out. Ugh. I don't want to think about it anymore.

Good Luck and I hope everything gets better with the bleeding and all. O and dont know if you got stiches or not but I busted mine out the 1st night home and I healed fine without them. I wasn't going back.

Ugh sorry it hasn't stopped bleeding yet. That's a bummer. The tea bag trick does work, I'll second that.

I had a pretty smooth wisdom teeth yanking. But I also have a high tolerance for pain. They put me under and I woke up pretty fast once they finished. They gave me a prescription for something but I just alternated Tylenol and Advil. And I didn't really follow their directions for what I could and couldn't eat. I was eating Doritos that night. I looked like a chipmunk for about a week but I didn't bruise or anything. Looking back, I'm lucky I didn't have any trouble with them and they didn't get infected.

Hope you feel better!

I got mine out in high school with just local anesthetic...I have no desire to be completely out for anything if at all possible. Mine were easy, the whole procedure took about 30 min start to finish. It was weird feeling this ripping and then seeing a tooth pop out of my mouth. They gave me percoset, but it made me so sick I switched to motrin. Being sick from the drugs was worse than the procedure itself.
