Okay, I have a 10 gallon w/ 5 Cardinal Tetras & 1 Brown Bristle Nose Pleco. I also have a 5 gallon with a green male betta approx. 2 years old....

I'd like him in a bigger tank... but can he live with the tetras and BN peacefully?

What do ya'll think?

my male betta has lived happily with my 7 neon tetras for almost a year now. When i first put them together, he flared up and chased them for abit but he's mellowed out now and even sits inside my hollowed out log with them sometimes.

well... my male betta lives with all sorts of community fish-- including tetras

but a BN pleco should not be kept in a 10g... MAYBE a 20g.. but not a 10

what size of pleco ? if it s big u should move him to a bigger house , not that he will have a problem with betta but for his own sake ...
betta with other fish , depends on betta s personality , but i don think u gonna have a problem ... ;)

it totally depends on the personality of the betta. I'd say try it and keep a close eye on them for a few days.

*Puts on breaks* Okay- so, I <3 my plecs and spoil them and one should be able to tell I have very healthy plecs. Currently I have the regular BN in the 10 gallon because THIS PAST SATURDAY a friend had to tear down all his tanks and left me to care for his beloved BN. (Who is very young and still quite small.) Very soon (Within the next 4 weeks) the BN girl will live happily ever after in my 30 gallon tank. (30 was used as a grow out, so now I am moving the fish that were in there out of the 30 into the 55 I bought this past weekend for them to move into. When that is finished, I will be making the 30 a planted tank, which she will move into.) So trust me, yes, shes very very small and young, and yes, a 10 gallon is VERY inappropriate for her. But i took her on short notice for a friend and do have a plan! I'll take good care of her- I LOOOOOOOVE my BN! *Scouts Honor!*

So- back to the original topic. Basically I should just watch and see if this betta likes or ignores the tetras? Nice to hear that some of ya'll have had success with the combo! :D Thanks for the feed back! MUCH appreciated! :)

(Note: The betta will be going in AFTER the BN is in the 30 gallon as I do not want the betta picking on its pretty fins)

it totally depends on the personality of the betta. I'd say try it and keep a close eye on them for a few days.

After hearing that ya'll have done this successfully, this is what I'll be doing. :D If there are any problems, he can always go back to his 5 gallon. I would like him to have a bit more room though.

I may end up giving him the 10 gallon all to himself if he doesnt get along with the tetras, and move the tetras to another tank. Who knows. I have too many tanks, and several in transition at the moment heeheehee.

*BAD case of MTS*

I have a betta in a 20 gal with 10 Kerri tetras, I have a betta in my large angel, pleco & tetra community tank, I have another betta with a bunch of Pristella tetras in a pleco tank, I have a betta with bunch of Rummy nose tetras in a pleco tank. All of them do fine. I must be lucky because I have not had any issues. I think I know someone who has 2 male bettas in a large 90 gal community tank and they've lived that way for over a year now.

That said, just keep a close eye on them for the first few days.
