The 75gal reef tank cycle has started!!!!!!!

Ah, gotcha. Like I said, I didn't know, just sounded good.

So, you wanna take some pics and describe the process of hooking up an RO unit? Like I said, I was given 2, one new, but without any instructions so I never had a clue how to set it up. I guess driving 1 block to the RO dispenser never really bothered me enough to figure it out.

Well I'm sure that there not all the same but this one was very simple. All you need is a place to place it were there is a cold water line and a drain near by. Then they sent a a pin valve that you mount on the cold water line and then turn the nob that sends a nail like pin in the side of the pipe punching a hole. Once you have done that you hook up the feed line that goes into the inlet side of the filter to the new valve. Now in my case I did the next part a bit different. As far as the drain line I just stuck the hose into the drain pipe behind my washer. they do send a clamp that you do some what the same thing you do with the feed line for the drain. I just didn't need it. That would be used if you are dumping the wast water into a sink drain. Once that is done you are ready to make water.

This is were we are at right now.

I think I am missing too many parts. lol... This is what I have as well as a 5g storage tank. I have no idea what I have actually, was told it was an RO unit though. lol. They have been sitting outside on my deck for a few years now.

LOL, funny.. updating your sig as you go.

that's all you need it looks like you just need some longer water and waste line and your good.

Yeah I hope to change it in the morning sometime to that it's now running.

Cool, you got the same temp probe as I do. I really like that one, and tried a few. I like the alarm setting, it has actually saved me once during a really hot day. Just a warning for me to run and grab some frozen water bottles and throw them in my sump to cool down the water.

Also, here is a tip for your photo's. Download this program and install it. It's a free tool from Microsoft that allows you to just right click on your picture and select Resize, or even Rotate, and then resize your pics down to 800x600. Then your pics wont be "thumbnails". Then you can do the comments between pictures thing.

Actually, here is a link to the entire Microsoft page with lots of good little free utilities.

I would've mixed the salt with the water before pouring it in the tank. When you dump the salt in later its going to settle on the sand before its completely mixed.

I think after a month of cycling and him throwing in some live sand/rock later on that should be enough to stir and mix the salt.

Can also put the salt in the sump so it mixes down there first before going into the tank. Just pour in like 2 cups at a time slowly and let it disolve.

Well I'm not going to pour the salt in the display tank. I'm going to pure it into the sump where the flow is high and it will mix it all befor sending it up to the display.

LOL I was typing the last post when you posted your last. Great minds and all.
