The 75gal reef tank cycle has started!!!!!!!

Looking really good.. everything is on the way down.. So are you going out to get a QT tank this weekend? Almost time to start adding a small CUC and a fish or two in the coming weeks.

They were working on that. I have to finish up some jobs at the beginning of the week before I can get to it but soon.

You don't have to QT a CUC do you? I thought we could just put them in the tank right away. I might be wrong so please let me know if we should or not.

You have never had a problem with not QT your fish?

Nope.. other than the initial "jump the new guy" thing that happens with all new arrivals. Never had a disease/parasite problem. Then again, I have been going to LFS for years and I can tell most of the time just by looking at their tanks/fish if I am going to buy from them. I keep my water conditions pristine so none of my fish seem to ever be stressed out. I also never dump the water from the LFS into my tank. I always put a net over a container and pour the fish into the net, then release it into my tank. I do "float" the fish for about an hour and drip acclimate them with my tank water into the bag. Not the best practice and not recommended, but for me it has worked and I have been lucky.

That is the way Ashlee did for the last year. She bought her gramma from another pet store that we goto some times. I think it was the store and not her tank. If we went to the other store that we goto but is farther away we wouldn't have to worry so much about it. He is big on coral and his water and tanks are very clean. I don't think I have ever seen a dead fish in any of his tanks. He has about 50 75gal tanks for fish and a coral that is about 4'x8'x13". Also another coral tank that two large short tanks, one higher then the other and water runs from one to the other. The store isn't that fancy but his stock is very good. The people that work there really seem to know what they are talking about. So i think I'm going to try and just buy fish and maybe even coral from them. We are still going to QT them but I think it's a better idea and safer.

I don't understand the question.

if your qt has disease, fish you can treat them with medication but i dont think theres no safe medication for inverts. just something i think its common sense when comes to sw.

Ok I think I understand. You want to know what we would do if our main display setup had a disease and how we would treat it. If it has ick then we would remove all fish to the QT and put them in hipo slowly for about 8 weeks. Other then that I have no idea. i hope this is what you were talking about. If not try again.
